Statement of solidarity with those affected by the war in Ukraine and suspension of collaboration with Russian institutions
The ESA is following the situation in Ukraine closely. Since the armed invasion by the Russian regime, the Executive Committee, the Research Networks and the National Associations have been discussing this horrendous war. Several solidarity measures were implemented and two statements were published raising voices for peace. At the ESA Extraordinary General Assembly, held on the 7th of April, the members expressed their solidarity with the people suffering from the consequences of the war.
At the very beginning of the Russian armed invasion of Ukraine, the President and the ESA Executive Committee decided to cancel its representation in an academic conference in Moscow through the participation of the President as a keynote speaker. The ESA Executive Committee has now decided to suspend the collaboration with the Russian institutions until the end of the war. The ESA will suspend official representation in the initiatives promoted by Russian institutions and organizations. We heartily reaffirm our profound solidarity with those affected and we hope that peace is achieved.
