Results of the ESA Extraordinary General Assembly of the 7th of April 2022

On Wednesday, the 12th of January 2022, the ESA President called for an Extraordinary General Assembly to be conducted online on the 7th of April, 2022, at 13:30 Central European Time, following the online consultation to the members approving the resolutions envisaged by the ESA Executive Committee, the consultation with the ESA Research Networks and legal advice.

The ESA Extraordinary General Assembly [EGA] was held online on Zoom on Thursday, the 7th of April 2022, at 13h30 Central European Time. After discussing the points of the agenda and the four resolutions proposed for voting, the meeting participants were invited to vote on the four questions shared with the members one week before the EGA. The digital voting application used the ESA member's database. Members in good standing at the EGA were asked to vote using the email address for logging in at the ESA website. Votes from members not in good standing or using an email different from the one registered in the ESA website members' area were not considered valid by the voting application.

The results of the voting were favourable to the dispositions brought to the Extraordinary General Assembly, as follows:

The participation of members in good standing in this EGA was crucial to finalise Statutes, By-laws changes, and Conference decisions. As a result, the ESA 16th Conference was postponed to 2024, the term of office of the Executive Committee was extended by one year, and membership for ESA members in good standing was also extended for one additional year at no additional cost.

The meeting minutes will be completed and uploaded on the website, the ESA statutes will be updated accordingly to the French Law, and the ESA Executive Committee will implement the decisions taken by the members.

The ESA Executive Committee thanks the ESA members, Research Networks and National Associations for their involvement and participation. News about the Conference dates and theme will be published very soon!
