The Department of Sociology, University of Essex, UK, was established in 1964 and is renowned for its research excellence.The purpose of this role is to research and teach in sociology at the undergraduate and postgraduate level and to supervise undergraduate projects, MA dissertations and PhD research. Key responsibilities will include contributing to excellence in education by designing and delivering substantive and effective teaching and learning support, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; engaging in individual and/or collaborative research activity (resulting in internationally excellent publications); and generating external research funding, including in collaboration with colleagues, appropriate in scale to career stage and subject area norms.
